Mother’s day is next Sunday May 14th.
Hey GEMS: We want to tell you how much we appreciate our mom. She is so amazing! She is beautiful, funny, and talented.
We all want to share something we love about our Mom!
From Giselle: I love my mom because when I need help she is always there.
From Evangeline: I love mom because when I make a problem, she makes it right.
From Mercedes: I love my mom because she makes me laugh.
We know you are probably just like us and want to get your mom a nice present for Mother’s Day. But that’s hard if you don’t have any money! To help with this, we came up with some ideas of things that are free that you could do for your mom on Mother’s day.
Mom’s Day Off:
- Mom gets the day off to do whatever she wants all day! The whole family pitches in and does all of the stuff mom usually has to deal with, so she can have a relaxing day.
Make a coupon book for your Mom. She can use the coupons whenever she wants, and you have to do what you wrote on that coupon. You could make coupons for a lot of different things. Here are some ideas.
- Foot massage
- I promise to stop complaining!
- Help with younger brother or sister
- Make Mom’s bed
- Fold Laundry
- Clean the Kitchen
Breakfast in Bed:
Make mom breakfast in bed! She usually takes care of you, but today you can take care of her. Make sure its what she likes. Just because you like cereal doesn’t mean she does! Maybe she would like a bagel with cream cheese or a strawberry smoothie.
If mom loves to be outside, go on a family hike. Go somewhere she likes or maybe a place she’s never been before. No complaining! Everyone agrees to get along and make it a really fun time for mom.
Visit a free local attraction. Check to see what is available in your area. There are probably things that your mom would like to see. Here are some ideas:
- Flower Gardens
- Nature Reserves
- Concerts in the park or main street
- Historical sites
Family Movie Night:
Find a movie that mom would love to see, even if it’s not one you like. No complaining! Make popcorn, have lemonade or soft drinks that mom loves. You are responsible for all the planning, and most importantly all the clean up. Mom does NOT get stuck sweeping up popcorn from under the couch afterward!
GEMS: We hope you liked these ideas. Please share something you love about your mom in the comments!
