Back to school. Back to school.
You may or may not like the sound of that, but we’re here to share with you our #1 tip to turning your average new school year into a fantastic one! Here it is…
Trying new things can definitely be scary. You might want to try a new hobby or try out for a new team or club, but nervously wonder:
“What if I’m not any good at it? What if other kids laugh at me?”
But here’s why trying new things is totally worth it:
-
You might end up really enjoying it
-
You might get the chance to make new friends
-
You might discover a talent you never knew you had
-
You will learn something new
Giselle tried something new and loved it! She says:
“When I tried out for cheerleading in 6th grade I was so nervous and worried about not making the team, but in the end I made the squad and it was the best year ever!” -Giselle
So if you’re feeling fearful next time about trying something new, remember to think positively.
Tell yourself, ‘I can do it!’
You can also take baby steps, like trying new foods or a new book series in your school library you’ve never read before.
So what if you do try something but don’t like it? Don’t feel bad if you realize that the new thing is not good for you.
Be proud and pat yourself on the back for trying something new! Then look for something else new you can try.
We want to hear from you! What’s something new you plan to try this school year?
